Cost, deadlines, the lottery, the school day, and what FLAMA teaches, all in one place.
Yes. FLAMA is a tuition-free public school. There is no tuition, no fee to apply, and no audition or entrance test. Any family living in Texas can apply; you don’t need to live in the East End. See the enrollment policy for how places are offered.
Apply by January 31, 2027 to be included in the lottery. If more children apply than we have places, the lottery is held on February 1, 2027. We keep accepting applications after January 31, but later applications join the waitlist in the order received, so applying by the deadline gives your child the best chance.
No. FLAMA is a full public school that teaches the Texas curriculum. Every day, students spend 90 minutes on reading and writing and 60 minutes on math, plus science and social studies. Music and art are added every day because they strengthen that learning: research links music training to stronger attention, memory, and self-control.
No. The interest form only asks us to send you information about FLAMA. It does not reserve a seat. To apply, complete the application by January 31, 2027 to be included in the lottery. We keep accepting applications until school starts; later applications join the waitlist in the order received.
If more children apply than we have places, we’ll hold a lottery on February 1, 2027. We’ll share results with families. Families offered a place will receive an enrollment packet to get ready for school.
