Dr. R. Scott Allen has more than 30 years in public education, including 13 as principal of Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA). He has also led the Arts Schools Network and worked as an elementary principal, assistant principal, and teacher.
He has seen how music and art help students learn and build confidence. At FLAMA, he will help bring strong academics and daily arts together for every child.
When I learned about FLAMA, I knew I wanted to be part of it. As a teacher, elementary administrator, and principal of Kinder HSPVA, I have seen how the arts help young people learn and grow.
Our mission is to help children succeed in school through music and art. Students build focus, confidence, and habits that help them learn reading, math, and more.
At FLAMA, we will teach children to plan, stay organized, and keep trying. Clear lessons and daily arts will help prepare them for high school and college. I am honored to help build this school for Houston's children.
