FLAMA's board brings together leaders in education, business, and the arts — united by a shared belief in the value of rigorous, joyful, arts-rich education. Our board provides strategic oversight, accountability, and institutional support to ensure FLAMA fulfills its promise for generations.
Board Members
Andrea Hauge
Board Chair
Andrea Hauge previously worked as an investment banker and has experience in financial analysis, project management, and organizational strategy. A parent, former homeschooling educator, and tutor, she is deeply committed to applying cognitive science and rigorous academics to expand opportunity for students.
Sue Deigaard
Secretary
Sue is a governance consultant, a graduate of the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, a Senior Fellow of the American Leadership Forum, and a nationally certified board governance coach. She holds a certification in Accelerating Board Capacity from Harvard Business School and a certification in Education Finance from the Edunomics Lab at Georgetown University.
Andrew Davis
Vice Chair
Andrew Davis is the founding Dean of the University of Houston’s Kathrine G. McGovern College of the Arts. He joined FLAMA to help expand access to high-quality arts education and strengthen connections between Houston’s cultural institutions and young learners.
Anthony Blanco
Board Member
Anthony Blanco has more than 15 years of corporate finance experience across the energy, commercial real estate, and media sectors, with expertise in financial planning, forecasting, and capital raising. As a parent of elementary-age children in Houston public schools, he is committed to ensuring strong financial stewardship and expanding educational options .
Andrew Koehler
Treasurer
Andrew Koehler is Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer at Bayou City Energy Management, where he oversees finance and operations for the firm’s investment activities. A Houston native, he brings deep experience in financial strategy and governance, along with a commitment to expanding access to high-quality educational opportunities.
Jorge Garza
Board Member
Jorge Garza is a professional opera singer, entrepreneur, and founder of the Segundo Barrio Children’s Chorus and Garza Studios. A lifelong resident of Houston’s Second Ward, he brings deep community ties and a passion for expanding access to music education for local families.
James McSwain
Board Member
James McSwain is Director of Principal and Superintendent Certification at Houston Christian University and a veteran school administrator with more than 35 years of leadership experience. His deep expertise in public-school leadership and superintendent preparation helps guide FLAMA as it builds a strong academic and operational foundation.
